Final Call to Vote for Costa Rica

This is your final chance to vote for the Costa Rican project “Development of economic partnerships between artisanal fisher folk and tourism operators”.

The project has been chosen as one of the 12 finalists (out of 250 applicants) for National Geographic’s and Ashoka Changemakers’ on-line marine/fresh water conservation competition. It’s now up to the public to decide the winners. Voting ends Wednesday, February 2nd.

The initiative will create economic partnerships/opportunities between artisanal fisher folk and the tourism sector by constructing a locally-supported fisheries co-op for certified, sustainably caught products and direct marketing strategy with local hotels and restaurants. Project will construct a marine research center that contributes to responsible tourism development/heritage protection by promoting local small-medium businesses.
